This is the group for people wishing to get involved in a Liverpool Music Barcamp on 23rd April at Studio 2 Parr Street as part of the Liverpool Working Class Music Festival.
Leave a few comments here and let us know what you would like from a Liverpool music unconference and what you could do to help.
Unconference workshop suggestion – Licensing, Copyright, and Intellectual Property. I would want to discuss firstly about the history of copyright law and how it has changed relative to technology over time. Then secondly about property law and how intellectual property has grown out of it. Lastly I would want to look at the cultural consequences of the ’war on piracy’ and how these laws are affecting us now.
basically nothing that hasn’t been done before but it’s important so more people should know.
That sounds like a great idea to me. That sort of session should definitely be part of the event.
Including a Licensing, Copyright, and Intellectual Property session at Liverpool Music Unconference would be a great idea.
@aghillo suggested doing a DIY music Instruments session which we should include also.
I like that idea too. Home-made instruments would be a very cool session
Not the most exciting session ever, but I’d be up to lead a music marketing sessions.
Also have volunteered Sam Easterby Smith (@samscam) to do something around his music iPhone Apps: Gigometer (http://spotlightkid.co.uk/gigometer/) and the App for the In The City conference (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/in-the-city/id393858546?mt=8)
Sounds like a good idea to me. Marketing and promotion is important for artists, especially in this day and age with people doing it themselves.
